What is unfuse?

Unfuse is a social utility that allows you to collaborate on day to day decisions - both large and small.

What are decisions?

Decisions are carded tools that enable you to select a course of action among several alternatives (options) and satisfies one or more needs (criteria).

Decisions in a social setting involve multiple people in a trust group working together to pick the right course of action. Decisions can be on simple subjects, such as which movie to go to with your friends on a Friday night, or on research intensive topics, such as buying a new car.

What are options?

Options are alternatives that are under consideration in a decision. It can be a product (HDTV), a service (a pre-school), a destination (Costa Rica), or even a person (presidential election).

If you are deciding on a car, you might add several car models as the options. If you are considering a pre-school for your kids, you would add the names of the pre-schools you're considering as options.

What are criteria?

Criteria are the aspects of an option that will make or break it.

A criterion can be a simple yes or no (Does this car have a Navigation System?). It can be a desirable range of values (Is this HDTV in my price range?). It can also be a list of items that are important to you (My next apartment must have a dishwasher, garage parking, and central AC!).

What is research?

Information is crucial to any decision making. Good information provides the basis for making better decisions. At unfuse, we call it research. You can bookmark anything you find on the Internet, write a note about it, and add it to your research page. You can tag research for specific options or criteria.

Who are owners and co-owners?

A person that starts a decision is the owner of a decision. So if you want to select an HDTV from the list of many that you were considering, start a decision and become the owner of this new decision. If there is another person that will have a definitive say in which one you finally select, invite that person to this decision and make him/her a co-owner. A co-owner is somebody who can do pretty much what you can do with your decision. Kinda like a significant other or a co-pilot or a partner.
